Objetives
It works on the modeling and experimentation of accident phenomena during the design phase and severe accidents in order to optimize analytical tools that, once validated against separate effects and integral experiments, are used for the optimization of safety engineering characteristics and accident management of operating, advanced, and modular reactors, as well as facilities involved in the end of the fuel cycle, up to final disposal. Special attention is given to the thermo-mechanical behavior of fuel, particularly during design-basis accidents, both in the reactor and in the post-irradiation temporary storage stage.
