Air Quality and Climate Change

Effects on Agrosystems and Ecosystems of Atmospheric Pollution and Climate Change

Contact person: ignacio a. gonzalez fernandez

Objetives

It studies the processes of deposition and absorption of atmospheric pollutants by vegetation, the effects at eco-physiological levels and other scales of biological organization, and their repercussions on agricultural production and quality, as well as on ecosystem functioning, ecosystem services, and biodiversity. It includes the development of strategies and technologies for adapting to atmospheric pollution and the influence of urban and peri-urban vegetation on air quality in cities, contributing to the development of environmental risk assessment methodologies that are transferred to decision-making on environmental legislation, mainly within the framework of the Working Group on Effects of the Air Convention (CLRTAP, UN/ECE).
