It centers on the knowledge of agricultural soils in their role as carbon sinks, nutrient reservoirs, and biodiversity protectors. It works on utilizing local organic waste (agricultural, livestock, agro-industrial, and domestic) for the production of biochar, pelletized compost, nutrient-enriched compost, biostimulants, fertilizers, and soil amendments. Additionally, it focuses on sustainable soil management and reducing agricultural soil loss due to erosion and compaction, developing new, more sustainable technologies, agronomic practices, and soil amendments.
