Innovative Hematopoietic Therapies
Contact person: juan antonio bueren roncero
Objetives
It focuses on translational research of hematopoietic stem cells and their cellular descendants, contributing to the understanding of their basic biology as well as their capacity to generate non-hematopoietic tissues. The goal is to promote the development of new safe and effective cellular, genetic, and pharmacological therapies. It includes research on new therapies for hereditary diseases and reducing the risks of allogeneic bone marrow transplantation. Studies also predict hematotoxicity induced by chemical agents, primarily new antitumor drugs, and develop in vitro culture-based assays using human hematopoietic progenitors as alternatives to animal studies.
