The objective of this line is the study of processes that occur in terrestrial ecosystems (both natural and agro-ecosystems) that affect the soil environment and the interactions with other environmental compartments to protect, conserve, and, if damaged, restore them. This involves considering the interrelationship of soil with biota and other environmental compartments with the aim of halting environmental degradation and preserving the essential services provided by natural resources.
