Software tool for the electrical mix optimization

Abstract

CIEMAT has developed a software tool for multi-objective electricity mix optimization, using artificial intelligence, specifically genetic algorithms. Such optimization estimates the optimal power to be installed for photovoltaic, wind and CSP plants, that satisfy at least the demand, minimize the curtailments at the lowest possible cost and may be subject to constraints, as for example, not to surpass the allowed maximum CO2 equivalent emissions.

This invention identifies the optimal electricity mix necessary for the decarbonisation of the electricity market through renewable energy.
