Abstract

In this paper, a characterisation procedure for the X-ARAPUCA-based light systems to be included in the DUNE experiment is presented. The photosensors used are known as Silicon Phoromultiplier (SiPM) whose characteristics will depend on the manufacturing process. In order to accomplish the characterisation, a cryogenic system is designed in which these detectors will operate in liquid nitrogen. Since these systems are very sensitive and precise measurements are required, a specific methodology was established to keep the whole system as stable as possible. Subsequently, an analysis of the acquired data was performed using the ROOT tool, based on the C++ language and widely used in particle physics. Finally, the operation of the light detection systems in liquid nitrogen is validated as the expected requirements in DUNE are achieved.
