Abstract

DUNE is a liquid argon TPC (Time Projection Chamber) with readout operating at cryogenic temperatures (~87 K). Photosensors able to operate at this temperature and detect vacuum ultraviolet light have been considered as reference sensors for the photodetection system characterization of this experiment. The Neutrino group of the Basic Research Department of CIEMAT developed an experimental setup to study the characteristics of SiPMs Hamamatsu VUV4 S13370 - 6075CN under cryogenic conditions. Their photon detection efficiency was measured at various wavelengths and temperatures, proving that these values differ from those provided at room temperature.
