Abstract
CIEMAT develops and integrates energy storage technologies to enhance the flexibility of electrical systems aiming for maximum renewable energy integration. The publication describes the specific work carried out at CIEMAT in: thermal storage using molten salts for concentrated solar power applications; advancements in hybrid storage, combining fast and large-scale storage solutions; energy management in microgrids; scientific computing as a tool to handle the vast amount of data needed for more efficient and flexible systems; and the sustainability analysis of energy storage, considering its environmental, socio-economic, and social impacts.
