Abstract

This book collects a set of contributions aiming to contribute to the exchange of information and knowledge on modelling, measurement and control, in the built environment, and with the aim of improving the energy efficiency of urban environments. The contributions are focused on the following topics around the general objective: Design and planning of cities, Urban energy networks, Efficient buildings that interact with their environment, and Measures for the transition of urban environments. This book is elaborated in the context of a set of complementary actions conducted to achieve the same objective, including the holding of workshops and seminars to share specialized knowledge among researchers on modelling methodologies, monitoring, control and operation of unique scientific-technological facilities, and other specific topics of interest, through monographic seminars. These complementary actions also include dissemination of knowledge in the technological field by holding conferences aimed at professionals and companies in the sector. All these seminars and conferences feature the participation of foreign researchers of recognized prestige in certain lines of research aligned with the stated objective. This collaboration has been set to contribute to promote an efficiently organised research, and avoiding to dedicate resources to topics solved in the past, or unnecessary duplicities on simultaneous actions.
