Internships and research stays
CIEMAT collaborates with both Spanish and international univerities by hosting students for curricular internships, Master´s dissertations (TFM*), and Bachelor´s dissertations (TFG*), collectively referred to as internships. These collaborations are formalized through instituionals agreements for educational cooperation.

Key points to consider before applying:
- Students interested in undertaking an internship at CIEMAT should first identify and contact the research group they are interested in, to confirm whether hosting is possible. To support this process, students may consult the scientific and technical areas, as well as the research lines, developed at CIEMAT..
- If the response is favourable, the CIEMAT staff member designated to supervise the internship will be identified.
- Before the internship can begin, a valid educational cooperation agreement between CIEMAT and the student’s university must be in place. Information about existing agreements is available at the bottom of this page.
- The specific details of each internship will be set out in a dedicated annex to the cooperation agreement. The CIEMAT supervisor will be responsible for gathering the necessary information, completing the annex, and submitting it to CIEMAT’s Educational Cooperation Unit for processing.
- If no cooperation agreement currently exists with a particular university, a new one can be initiated through CIEMAT’s Educational Cooperation Unit. To begin this process, the contact form available at the bottom of this page must be completed and submitted.
